Sunday Spice Route breakfast run

This morning the club had a good turn out for it’s monthly breakfast run. It was a bit foggy and chilly to start with, breaking out of Paarden Island just after 9 and heading out towards Durbanville. A lot of us were convinced we were taking the second ramp off to Durbanville as we discussed, but Howard giving directions in the red bakkie had other ideas and we ended up doing the grand tour of Durbanville and Philadelphia before eventually coming to a stop by the side of the R312.

All was forgiven when we arrived at the Spice Route – winding our way up through the vineyards as the sun was breaking … The Paarl Mountain area can be incredibly picturesque. Breakfast was a bit non-traditional for some … scrambled eggs with biltong and douka butter, but after a cooler and longer bike ride than usual everyone was starving. The Spice Route seems like a good place to visit and a few members commented about taking their wives and partners back in the future.

It was nice to see some new bikes and bikers join us for the run. A very well kept BMW K1100 LT purred it’s way along the route next to a Honda Steed amongst others.

Thanks to Howard for organising breakfast and doing the booking … Looking forward to the next one!
